Lived with father and step-mother, Edwina Fern Wattenbarger (formerly Edwina Fern Clark) in Haskell, Oklahoma where he attended elementary and high school.  Graduated Haskell High School in 1969.

Attended college at Oklahoma State University 1969-1974.  Majors:  Psychology, Physical Sciences and Journalism. Graduated 1973: B.S.

Enlisted in United States Navy in June, 1974.
Completed Navy Quartermaster (navigation) Training (Honor Man Graduate) in October 1974.
1st Duty Station:  Hawaii Armed Forces Police.
2nd Duty Station:  Harbor Control, Pearl Harbor Naval Station.
    Special Assignment:  USS Bonefish (Submarine), USS Talekma (Aleutions Operation)
3rd Duty Station:  Naval Officers Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island
Commissioned on May 14, 1976 as Ensign.
4th Duty Station:  USS Towers, DDG-9, San Diego
5th Duty Station:  Naval Surface Warefare Officers School, San Diego
6th Duty Station:  USS Sample (frigate - engineer and navigator)
7th Duty Station:  Executive Officer, Personnel Support Activity, Headquarters, Commander in Chief, US Pacific Fleet, Hawaii
Resigned Commission in May, 1990, with a fairly good attitude.*
(*  Said one naval buddy after a month in the South China Sea, "When I get out of the Navy, I'm going down to Tiajuana and lie drunk in the streets for three days just to get my self respect back.")

Attended graduate school at Oklahoma State University in September 1990.  Major: Bioenvironmental Engineering.  Graduated 1983: M.S. with thesis and 24 hours of Ph.D. work.

Employed as civilian Navy Nuclear Engnieer at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in December of 1983.
Transfered to Charleston Naval Shipyard in October of 1984.  Professional assignment:
     nuclear emergency control
Employed also by Trident Techincal College as instructor: Nursing program instructor of chemistry,
     biology, anatomy and physiology, computer programming and general sciences
Transfered to John F. Kennedy Space Center in June of 1987 as NASA Space Operations Safety Specialist.
Internally reassigned in 1989 as Bioengineer - Advanced Life Support System design engineer.

Currently Assigned Tasks at NASA:
    Bioengineering, Space Life Sciences Outreach Projects, Chairman, KSC Animal Care and Use Committee
    Designer, Principal Investigator and Commander of Scott Carpenter Space Analog Station - one of four
      operational underwater stations in the world.

Avocations:
    Freelance Writing (one novel and over 100 published articles)
    Design of the First Permanent Human Settlement on the Ocean Floor

Wife:  Claudia Schealer Chamberland (Formerly Claudia Schealer of Cocoa, Florida)

Children:  Christopher Donald Chamberland (1980), Eric Milton Chamberland (1982), Brett William English (1983), Eric Alexander English (1984), Katy Ann Chamberland (1985) and Peter Donovan Chamberland (1987)

Pets: Mr. Peabody (Vinalla Lab, grandson of Purina Dog Chow Ad Dog), Snickers (Felinus domesticus shorthairus),  Sir Alexander of Fleetwood (a Yorkie - the terrible jaws of death toward any stray rats), Marbles (Black Cocker - Seriously Gumpish-but-we-love-him-anyway) and Wabbit.

Medical History:
(Yes - I told you I was going to reveal everything:)
Numerous ailments, some of which have names, as some of these were actually contracted in places with names, most of which you will not be able to pronounce anyway - either the names of the diseases or the names of the places.  I find as I get older that there are more names and fewer places.
